Are you taking care of yourself? Your wealth is in your health – particularly in the horse industry. If you do not care for your body, you will not have the energy to do your best work. You will also be more likely to end up sick or injured which leads to a lack of income and, potentially, the loss of clients if you are out for too long. Be sure to care for yourself. Your business should be life affirming – not depleting.
Make sure that you do not sacrifice a healthy lifestyle in favor of time saved to get more done. Make sure that you plan for meals that provide the energy and nutrients that you need to do your best work. If you are on the road all day, think about packing a lunch to save money and insure that you have a tasty, nutritious meal between appointments.
You also want to get enough sleep and exercise. You may be thinking, “But my job is physically demanding so I don’t need to exercise.” That may be true. A lot of the time it can really help to have supportive exercise as part of your regular routine. For example, a farrier has a very physically demanding job, but they don’t get a lot of cardiovascular exercise that would help boost their health. A farrier may also benefit in exercise that would help strengthen their body to support their back.
Take Action: Take a look at the balance of your life. Are there lifestyle changes that you could make to feel better, have more energy, and produce even greater results in your business?
